Projet R&D UncorrelaTEd

Solid-liquid thermoelectric systems with uncorrelated properties.

Thermoelectricity, which can be used to recover energy from waste heat, is a niche technology with considerable growth potential, but limited by its low efficiency.

To improve the efficiency of the conversion of thermal energy into electrical energy, the EU-funded UncorrelaTEd project is developing a new paradigm involving an innovative hybrid system. This system consists of a porous thermoelectric solid impregnated with a liquid electrolyte. Already very promising, with unprecedented improvements in power factor, the results of the project will make it possible to extend thermoelectric technology to numerous fields, such as self-powered sensors. This breakthrough will further reduce the demand for batteries, textiles, factories, power plants and combustion engines, and the carbon footprint they create.
